I can't say that I understand why this isn't working for you. I have never had an unsecured instance running exposed and when I used this process, I was definitely accessing with a password.

Unfortunately, I don't think that I can be much help in your plight as I have not had this issue for quite some time. Have you checked your logs for anything interesting?

That starts vino, but for some reason it doesn’ t accept my password this way. Maybe this works if you don't use a password.

Hi Matt,

Thanks this is useful.
I have had problems using vino where I am not able to connect to only one machine on the network. It sorted itself out after a few hours but I was wondering if stopping and then restarting the vino service would help me out if perhaps the process got hung up. If so how would I go about stopping the service? is it just service vino-server stop followed by your command above to start?

Thankyou

Jamie

I am sorry, Eden. I have not worked with Django or Python in a number of months and no longer have this readily available due to a hard drive crash... I hope that you have been able to find what you needed.

Would you be able to share your code? I was trying to work through this example myself but am having trouble getting the TinyMCE to come up on the admin page.

I am currently installing 10.04 on my 1000he. I am doing a new install not an upgrade, but for some reason it doesn't seem to detect my wireless card at all. i don't know if my wireless is just turned off or what but there is not even a network icon up in the right corner? anyone have any suggestions on how i can get it working? I was also wondering if anyone know a way to get the function keys working? thanks.

I would begin with checking my sound settings [System > Preferences] and seeing that I have the correct hardware selected and configured [Hardware Tab]. You will have several options - experimentation often will yield the best results... If it helps, my settings are set to "Analog Stereo Duplex".

Check to see if pulseaudio is running too... If not, you can always kick it off by pressing ALT+F2 and entering 'pulseaudio' in the run prompt...

Also, ensure that it isn't fully muted...

Let me know if this isn't it and I can possibly help you further...

I would start with post 5 from <a href="http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1326707" rel="nofollow">this thread</a>. First, it shows that you are not alone and that this issue isn't specific to the newest Ubuntu and instead is specific to the Bios revision...

The user GMC provides a link in this thread for a work around, though it doesn't appear to be a fix... I will post back if I find anything further, but this has not proven to be a problem to me as I didn't upgrade the bios.. When it comes to Bios releases, I take the approach of "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" :)
